Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Early Childhood Center for an exciting new school year.  We will be starting a new century this year and will observe this event by our reading incentive, Millennium Minutes.  More to follow.

This summer, our facility has had some changes.  The West hallway now has cubbies replacing the junior high lockers.  We have created a new pre-school room, a first grade classroom and a reading office.  Also, this summer we have lowered the ceilings in four classrooms.  Our playground has had the blacktop painted with various children's' games.

We have had a few new educators joining our staff.  We are looking forward to working closely with these highly talented and experienced professionals.

As you know, this year all our students will be using the new "Invitations to Literacy" by Houghton-Mifflin for their reading/language arts instruction.  This is a new series reflecting the latest research in the area of reading in a balanced program of phonics, literature, writing and content reading.  The staff has been busy this summer organizing their rooms and new materials to ensure a  successful transition to this integrated instruction and challenging assessment component which reflects the Abington school curriculum.
